Cocada Music tends to reinforce an interesting meaning: looking at the most outstanding tropic-musical grooves of dance music and bringing them back to the scene in a more structured way, but still very sensitive towards the original proposition. This time’s honoree is Black Coco, a track produced by the band Painel de Controle, that has left to history a stunning anthem in both quality and authenticity, creating connections between disco, funk and soul in the 70’s Brazil.
For these reinterpretations, 2 different generation representatives were invited, but both value the elegant, optimistic, warm and common sonorities that only disco and house music could provide. DJ Marky, who displays a long and respected career in drum n' bass, brings the characteristic beats of the genre accompanied by piano notes that fill the song Black Coco with prominence, without abandoning the main-track's summer nostalgia.
The other component of this combo is the Rio de Janeiro based duo Nu Azeite, already known in the current scene for making breezy reinterpretations of national classics, creating a middle ground between traditional disco beats and the current freshness of trends such as indie dance. In his remix, Bernardo Campos and Fabio Santana play with percussive and synthetic elements from the original to recreate the dancefloor feeling that forces us to be dancing and smiling.
